NEW YEARS DAY DIVE 2004

The Ocean gods were good to us this day.  The surf was from 1 to 3 ft and the visibility was about 20 feet.  For Redondo Beach that was about as good as you can expect.  Especially since we had storms a few days before and the next day it rained all day. The water temp (57) was a little warmer than the outside air (50).  In all we had about 18 people join us.  Only 7 were brave enough to make the dives.  We got a late start, we did not enter the water until after 8am for our first dive. In all out of the 7 divers, 2 of us made the 3 plan dives.  Just about everyone else did 2 dives.  It was reported that on the third dive  two of  the divers wrestled with sharks. We also had a seal join us for one of the dives.   We were able to catch 3 Spider crabs and 7 Dungeness crabs for our pot luck but only a few people stayed around long enough for the crabs  to cook. It took longer to cook them than we figured on (no thanks to the wind).  But no one went home hungry, because we had plenty of great food.  Below are some pictures we took.
